About & Resources
Everything about Tanina, in one place.
A single page for the facts: who we are, how we work, how to get involved, and the information partners, communities and media need. It grows as the organization grows.
Tanina at a glance
Who we are.
Tanina is a youth-led South Sudanese organization working at the intersection of people, planet and prosperity. We build pathways from disposability to dignity — connecting responsible waste management, environmental education and circular innovation so that overlooked people and materials get a second look.
Our name says it simply: Tanina means “ours” in Juba Arabic. Nothing and no one is disposable.
Our vision
A circular and sustainable society with improved waste management and dignified livelihoods.
Our mission
Create dignified jobs for waste collectors, provide environmental education and practical skills, and nurture a more sustainable environment through the proposed Wasaka Innovation Center and community action.
Our approach
People, planet and prosperity, together.
We work along four pathways — with children at risk of the street, returnees rebuilding their lives, waste pickers recognized as Resource Managers, and young entrepreneurs turning waste into wealth. Programs like the proposed Wasaka Innovation Center and the From Waste to Worth initiative turn that approach into practical, community-led action.
